Alternative Fuel Life-Cycle Environmental and Economic Transportation (AFLEET) Tool for Heavy-Duty Vehicles

AFLEET is Argonne’s flagship tool for fleet managers to analyze environmental and economic impacts of alternative fuel and advanced vehicle technologies for commercial applications. The tool includes comprehensive analysis capabilities for heavy-duty vehicles, calculating petroleum use, greenhouse gas emissions, air pollutant emissions, and total cost of ownership. The Heavy-Duty Vehicle Emissions Calculator (HDVEC) component specifically addresses commercial fleet needs by comparing NOx, PM, and GHG emissions for diesel, electric, natural gas, and propane vehicles. AFLEET has over 8,000 users and provides critical decision support for commercial fleet electrification projects, including analysis of environmental mitigation funding opportunities and payback calculations for fleet conversions.
