The BatPaC model is Argonne’s comprehensive tool for estimating lithium-ion battery performance and manufacturing costs specifically for electric-drive vehicles including commercial applications. This bottom-up cost model accounts for materials, design, and manufacturing processes, enabling analysis of battery systems for heavy-duty trucks, buses, and commercial fleets. The model helps evaluate trade-offs between power, energy, charging time, and cost for commercial vehicle applications. BatPaC supports battery pack design for different commercial vehicle duty cycles and provides critical cost projections for fleet electrification decisions. The model has been extensively used by government agencies and industry for commercial vehicle battery technology assessment and procurement decisions.
