This economic analysis examines how IRA tax credits accelerate electric truck adoption. RMI projects that IRA incentives will achieve total cost of ownership parity for electric trucks approximately five years sooner than without the legislation. Key incentives include the Qualified Commercial Clean Vehicles Credit ($40,000 or 30% of cost for vehicles over 14,000 lbs) and Alternative Fuel Refueling Infrastructure Credit (30% of charger installation costs). By 2030, over 60% of new truck sales could be electric. The report projects need for 230 TWh of new electricity demand, 150,000 fast public chargers, and 860,000 depot chargers by 2035.
