This latest market analysis shows accelerating progress in U.S. commercial vehicle electrification. Approximately 2,810 zero-emission MHD vehicles were registered in 2024, representing 0.56% market share (up from 0.31% in 2023). Zero-emission vehicles accounted for 7.0% of bus registrations and 0.40% of heavy-duty truck registrations. The study shows trucks represented 53% of zero-emission registrations while buses made up 47%. Daimler and Traton emerged as the largest manufacturer groups, with Class 8 tractor trucks accounting for over 70% of zero-emission truck registrations, reflecting deployment of battery electric drayage truck models.
