Manufacturing Capacity for Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles in the United States

This analysis assessed current and planned production capacity for class 4-8 heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles based on manufacturer announcements. The report identifies 43 commercial vehicle manufacturing facilities across the U.S., with 37 currently capable of producing ZEVs. Current ZEV-capable facilities have estimated annual capacity of 10,000 ZEVs and 179,000 ICE vehicles in 2023. Manufacturers have announced nearly $6.5 billion in investments for additional ZEV capacity of 106,000 vehicles annually. If all production at ZEV-capable facilities converted to electric, total capacity could reach over 295,000 commercial ZEVs.
